The program is modeled after the renowned Balkan Fellowship for Journalistic Excellence, which has been supporting investigative journalism since 2007.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"post-thumbnail\" style=\"margin: 0px 0px 20px;position: relative\"><font color=\"#222222\" face=\"Libre Franklin, sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">Funded by the European Union, the six-month fellowship offers a unique opportunity for 10 aspiring and mid-career journalists aged 18\u201335 to develop in-depth, high-quality investigative stories on issues of public interest.<\/span><\/font><\/div>\n<div class=\"entry-content\" style=\", sans-serif;margin-right: 0px;margin-left: 0px;float: none;width: 630.5px;font-size: 15px\">\n<p style=\"margin: 0px 0px 1.75em\"><span style=\"font-weight: 700\">Fellowship benefits:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin: 0px 0px 1.75em 1.25em;padding: 0px\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 700\">\u20ac2,000 bursary<\/span> to support the production of a long-form investigative article;<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 700\">Professional editorial mentorship<\/span> from award-winning BIRN Kosovo editors with long experience of investigative journalism;<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 700\">Wide publication opportunities<\/span>, including republication on leading BIRN platforms such as <a href=\"http:\/\/kallxo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" style=\"box-shadow: currentcolor 0px 1px 0px 0px\">KALLXO.com<\/a> or Prishtina Insight.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px 0px 1.75em\"><span style=\"font-weight: 700\">Topics of focus:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px 0px 1.75em\">Fellows will investigate and write stories that explore critical issues, including:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin: 0px 0px 1.75em 1.25em;padding: 0px\">\n<li>Corruption and public procurement<\/li>\n<li>Public spending and transparency<\/li>\n<li>Environment, healthcare and education<\/li>\n<li>Human rights (minorities, women, workers, LGBTI+ community)<\/li>\n<li>Media financing and interethnic media cooperation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px 0px 1.75em\">Fellows will produce one original investigative article in <span style=\"font-weight: 700\">Albanian<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: 700\">Serbian<\/span>, or <span style=\"font-weight: 700\">English<\/span>, and select the media outlet for publication. BIRN Kosovo will ensure the article reaches a broad audience through its partner platforms \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/kallxo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" style=\"box-shadow: currentcolor 0px 1px 0px 0px\">KALLXO.com<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/prishtinainsight.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" style=\"box-shadow: currentcolor 0px 1px 0px 0px\">Prishtina Insight<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px 0px 1.75em\"><span style=\"font-weight: 700\">Who can apply?<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin: 0px 0px 1.75em 1.25em;padding: 0px\">\n<li>Journalists with <span style=\"font-weight: 700\">at least three years of professional experience<\/span>;<\/li>\n<li>Applicants from <span style=\"font-weight: 700\">broadcast, online, public, and private media outlets<\/span>;<\/li>\n<li>Journalists working in <span style=\"font-weight: 700\">Albanian, Serbian, and minority languages<\/span> are encouraged to apply;<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 700\">Women and members of non-majority communities<\/span> are strongly encouraged to apply.
